Math Intervention That Closes Learning Gaps

K-8 intervention that rebuilds understanding, builds interventionist capacity, and restores students’ confidence.

A Different Approach to Intervention

Students in intervention deserve richer thinking, because that’s the only path to lasting understanding.

Grade-Agnostic by Design

Follows learning progressions, not isolated grade-level standards.

Understanding First

Builds both conceptual understanding and procedural fluency, through rich, structured practice.

Instruction-First Model

Teacher-facilitated sessions with fluency development, not app-only intervention.

How Does Math Journeys Work?

Empowering students with a tailored learning journey designed to bridge gaps and unlock their full potential.

Starting at the Right Place

Each Math Journey is a set of grade-agnostic lessons used to address a particular math topic where students are experiencing learning gaps.

Everything You Need, All in One Place

Math Journeys provides a coherent system where assessment, instruction and practice work together seamlessly.

Classroom manager

Teacher tools containing resources for diversity, training, and assessment.

Promotes social-constructivist learning through meaningful conversations and collaborative problem-solving.

Student Logbook

A space for individual reflection and learning consolidation. Students engage in activities that reinforce key concepts and use the Magic Pad to take notes, draw, and share their ideas.

App for consolidation & fluency

Interactive, personalized, and engaging math content with tailored learning pathways and detailed reports to monitor student’s performance.

Manipulatives & Math Coach

Box with all the necessary manipulatives to carry out the Math Journeys. Students build their knowledge concretely, going through pictorial representations before reaching the abstract.

Your Math Coach will provide ongoing guidance on implementing Math Journeys. The Math Success Plan offers structured strategies to track progress, adapt instruction, and ensure meaningful student growth.

Modular Structure for Tier 2 & 3

The Instruction-First Model

Math Journeys uses a flexible cycle designed to build deep understanding in small-group settings. Each Journey contains around 15 stations targeting a specific skill or concept. In each station, there are three instructional blocks:

Block 1

Build

Students build understanding through exploration. A 5-minute warm-up activates prior knowledge. Then 20 minutes of teacher-facilitated discussion with manipulatives—where students explore patterns and test ideas. The final 5 minutes check for understanding before moving forward.

Block 2

Consolidate

Students consolidate understanding by moving from concrete to abstract. A 5-minute recall game brings the previous session forward, followed by 25 minutes working through full-color logsheets.

Block 3 – Optional

Additional Practice

Students deepen mastery through varied practice when needed. They rotate every 10 minutes through different centers—each offering a different entry point to the same concept, ensuring multiple pathways to understanding.

Grounded in Research

Every design decision in Math Journeys is grounded in decades of research on how students learn mathematics. Best-practices shouldn’t stay just in Tier 1.
